How do you celebrate 25 years? 

With a GRAND PARTY!

2021 marked the twenty-fifth year of Spooky Hollow Experience. Unbeknownst to most, the concept for Spooky Hollow began decades before it began in 1996.

In a small town… located in a small mid-western state… lived a little girl… who dreamed… of the one night filled with magick…

There is something magical about Halloween. More so on this 25^th year of haunts.  The artisans’ desire was to create something magical.  Should they call upon the Pirates of the Black Skull? I don’t think so.  Perhaps they shall dig deep within their childhood.

The magick of a full moon… the magick of jack o’lanterns glowing in the dark… the magick of dancing among the ghosts and skeletons… the magick of witches flying on their brooms, across a starlit sky.  The magick that is… all hallow’s eve… Halloween…

Every childhood consists of memories of going to the local pumpkin patch to pick out the ideal pumpkin to carve into the perfect jack-o-lantern.  What a wonderful idea to bring forth Jack’s Pumpkin Patch.

Years passed and the little girl grew into a woman.  She met a man and they married. Somewhere in her childlike heart… the dream waited… aching to come alive…

One day the woman shared her dream with the man…  He agreed… this was a dream worth the effort… to make come true…

For twenty-five years, this man and this woman did all they could to bring the dream alive…

Yet, the artisans’ included an unrevealed sub-theme as 2021 marked the 55^th anniversary of Charles Shultz “It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown.”

The years have been quite the journey…

Nonetheless, this journey is not over…

For each year… more of the little girl’s dream…

Becomes… a reality…

For over three years Gracie worked hard at building Linus.

“I was confined to artist’s block when it came to creating my version of Linus of the Peanuts gang.” shares Gracie.  “Then an entertainer friend of mine, Sylvia, created one of the most inspiring albums. [Nature Child - Sylvia] As I began to listen to the album, to review, it inspired me to create.”

Not only did Gracie create Linus, but she went on to create Charlie Brown and a very unique mailbox.

“If time was not an issue, I would have created Snoopy as well!” shares Gracie.

Other new props added this year included two new hand painted signs, skeleton ducks, skeleton squirrels, skeleton teddy bear, and a new six foot skeleton.

Gracie’s creative mind inspired her to create three new scenes; including the rat scene, candle scene and the Boo pumpkin scene.

“Gracie doesn’t like to throw things away, especially when it comes to Halloween.” tells Jack.  “Several years ago, one of the pumpkins fell and broke.  It was one of our favorites because it says ‘Boo’ on it.  Boo is the name of our cat.  She kept the pieces and when we began setting things up this year I came up with the idea that all pumpkin patches have smashed pumpkins! That’s all it took for her to create the neat scene she did.”

25 years and over 225 pumpkins to celebrate the event.  An event it was.  The season began with the annual light-up ceremony where Sylvia lent her voice to record the show.  Gracie walked us down memory lane with stories from years past.

Although Gracie can still fit into her witch costume she wore as a nine-year-old, she donned on a new Witch costume.  Jack proudly displayed his pumpkin patch dressed as a pumpkin grower. Joining the celebration was Pita Pit food truck.
